Awards

Mississippi 4-H, through the Mississippi State University Foundation, encourages college-bound 4-H’ers to apply for 4-H awards. This is an overview for each award to be read carefully, as eligibility criteria for each individual award vary. Awards are granted through the MSU Extension Center for 4-H Youth Development office. For additional details and deadlines, please contact your local Extension office.

  • Deep South Equipment Dealers Association 4-H Award

    To qualify for the Deep South Equipment Dealers Association Award, applicants must be an active 4-H member for minimum of two years and be enrolled as a full-time student at MSU in Agriculture or Agriculture related studies. Applicants must have completed requirements for high school graduation or have started college work and have maintained a 2.5 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) and scored a minimum of 18 on the ACT. Applicants must also submit one official (unopened/stamped) school transcript, a letter of recommendation from the Extension agent in charge of 4-H or school official, and a summary of 4-H activities and experiences.

  • Gladiola Branscome Harris 4-H Award

    To qualify for the Gladiola Branscome Harris Award, applicants must have been an active participant in the 4-H Youth Development program in the area of home economics with priority, but not limited to, foods and nutrition, health, and personal development. Applicants must have completed requirements for high school graduation or have started college work and must have maintained a 2.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale). Applicants must also submit an official (unopened/stamped) transcript to verify grades from high school or college last attended, three letters of recommendation (one must be from the extension agent in charge of 4-H and/or school official), and a summary of 4-H activities and experiences.

  • Ike Campbell Memorial 4-H Award

    To qualify for the Ike Campbell Memorial Award, the applicant must have been an active participant in the 4-H Youth Development Program for a minimum of two years, must have completed high school or started college work and maintained a 2.5 GPA in high school (based on a 4.0 scale), and scored a minimum of 18 on the ACT. Applicants must submit one official transcript (unopened/stamped), three letters of recommendation (one of which must be from the Extension Agent in charge of 4-H and/or a school official), and a summary of 4-H activities and experiences.

  • Marian Carmichael 4-H Award

    Candidates for the Marian Carmichael Award must have been an active participant in the 4-H Youth Development program for a minimum of two years with emphasis in youth leadership. Applicants must have completed requirements for high school graduation or have started college work and must have maintained a 2.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale). Applicants must also submit an official (unopened/stamped) transcript to verify grades from high school or college last attended, three letters of recommendation (one must be from the extension agent in charge of 4-H and/or school official), and a summary of 4-H activities and experiences.

  • Mississippi 4-H Volunteer Leaders Association Youth Award

    Candidates for the Mississippi 4-H Volunteer leaders Association Youth Award must complete an application, be a currently enrolled member of Mississippi 4-H, be recommended by letter from a 4-H agent and a volunteer leader, score a minimum of 18 on the ACT, earn a 3.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) or B average, and write a summary of 4-H activities and experiences.

  • Rennette L. Martin 4-H Endowed Annual Award

    To qualify for the Rennette L. Martin 4-H Endowed Annual Award, applicants must have been or are currently involved in 4-H. Applicants must also be a full-time undergraduate student at any Mississippi community college or university. The applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) and must be from Rankin County, Mississippi.

  • The Troy and Mildred Holliday 4-H Award

    To qualify for the Troy and Mildred Holliday Award, applicants must have been an active participant in the 4-H Youth Development program for a minimum of two years in the area of citizenship. Applicants must have completed requirements for high school graduation or have started college work and must have maintained a 2.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale). Applicants must also submit an official transcript to verify grades from high school or college last attended, three letters of recommendation (one must be from the extension agent in charge of 4-H and/or school official), and a summary of 4-H activities and experiences.
